Video tutorials

In short — Watch the short video in the app (Settings › Video tutorials) or on the Tissyo YouTube channel. It shows Tissyo Jury in real conditions: start an oral with one tap, grade live while the student speaks, and leave with a written summary. No preparation needed to get started.

What the video covers

  • Starting an oral with a single tap, no rubric and no class import;
  • the timer and target duration, to keep a discreet eye on time;
  • the Plus / Minus buttons to capture strengths and areas to improve without taking your eyes off the student;
  • the oral timeline: every marked moment, found again at a glance afterwards;
  • the summary: complete it by hand, or dictate your feedback — you stay in charge from start to finish. (Voice dictation requires iOS/iPadOS 26 or macOS 26; on earlier versions, type your summary instead.)

Your first oral, step by step

  1. Set a target duration if the exercise has one; the timer keeps track while you listen.
  2. Start the oral as the student begins speaking.
  3. Mark what you hear: a Plus for a strength, a Minus for an area to improve, each in a single gesture.
  4. Stop at the end and review the timeline of marked moments.
  5. Write or dictate the summary while the oral is still fresh.

Free oral or rubric?

The free oral is the quickest way to start: nothing to set up, and your Plus and Minus marks already structure the feedback. A customizable rubric becomes useful once several orals must be compared on the same criteria, for example a whole class presenting the same assignment. Until then, the free oral is all you need.

Importing your students, from a CSV or Excel file or by hand, adds one more benefit: each oral is archived on the student’s record, and results can be exported as CSV or Excel at the end of the term.

Mistakes to avoid on a first oral

  • Writing full sentences during the oral: a quick Plus or Minus keeps your attention on the student; the details go in the summary.
  • Postponing the summary: written or dictated right after the oral, it reflects what you actually observed.
  • Building a detailed rubric before trying: grade one or two orals freely first, then turn the criteria you keep noting into a rubric.

Going further

The full written walkthrough is in how to grade an oral exam in 3 minutes. Next, you can create a grading rubric to structure the grade, and import your students to track the whole class.

All tutorials are also on the Tissyo YouTube channel, and inside the app, right where you need them.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to prepare anything before my first oral?

No. The “free oral” mode works without a rubric, a class or any setup: install the app, tap the central button, and grade.

Does the video match the current version of the app?

Yes, tutorials are recorded on the current version of Tissyo Jury and refreshed when the interface evolves.

Does Tissyo Jury record the student during the oral?

No. Tissyo Jury doesn’t listen to the student: it’s your end-of-oral comment that can be dictated.

Which devices can I grade on?

iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch. Your orals sync through iCloud, so you can grade on one device and review on another.

How much does Tissyo Jury cost after the trial?

During the 7-day trial, everything is available; after that, a subscription is needed to keep going. One subscription covers all your devices: $3.99/month or $12.99/year.
