Looking for a Voice Dream Reader alternative? Start with the reading task you want to keep, not a list of extra features. If you want a one-time-purchase reader for your Apple devices, Tissyo Voice is worth testing with a document you actually use.
First, separate the purchase question from the reading question
A free download is not necessarily a free ongoing service. The Voice Dream App Store listing, checked on 13 September 2026, states that access requires a subscription and offers a trial to new users. Your existing entitlements and the offer displayed in your storefront need their own check.
Tissyo Voice uses a one-time purchase rather than a recurring subscription. Check the current price and platform coverage on the product page and in your App Store. This page does not assume that an iPhone purchase also unlocks the Mac version.
A small switching test before moving your library
- Keep your originals. Do not delete your existing library or cancel anything just to run a comparison.
- Choose three representative files. For example, a simple text document, a PDF with columns and a document with names or technical terms.
- Import a copy into Voice. Check the extracted text and reading order before judging the voice.
- Listen to a full passage. Try the speed you normally use, pause and return to the document.
- Try your real setting. If you listen while travelling, test a saved document and installed voice with the network disconnected.
What should you record?
Write down one sentence for each file: “The columns were read in order,” “I could resume where I stopped,” or “This abbreviation needs checking.” These observations tell you more than a feature count. If you rely on an accessibility setting, include it in the test rather than assuming two readers behave identically.
Do bookmarks and annotations transfer?
Do not assume they do. Keep a separate record of important notes and reading positions. This guide does not promise a direct Voice Dream library migration, transfer of purchased voices or import of proprietary annotations into Tissyo Voice.
What Tissyo Voice brings to this workflow
Voice provides document listening on iPhone, iPad and Mac, with locally generated speech, reading tracking and adjustable speed. Library synchronisation through iCloud is separate from offline playback and needs a connection. Use the offline listening checklist to prepare your test.
Still deciding what to compare? The Voice Dream and Tissyo Voice evaluation checklist focuses on purchase terms, documents and listening requirements. This page focuses on trying the change without risking your existing library.
